Etsy is one of the most popular global e-commerce platforms with Amazon in recent years.

Etsy is one of the most popular global eCommerce platforms aside from Amazon in recent years. With fully handmade and vintage products, Etsy is home to a wide range of customers from all over the world looking for truly original and unique products.

Therefore, the platform used by those who want to sell their products on Etsy is being used by many people in Turkey both as buyers and sellers. However, because PayPal is not an available payment system in Turkey, some problems with receiving payments from Etsy can be experienced. With this content, you can learn how to get payments from the widely used eCommerce platform,, apart from PayPal.

Etsy Payment Channels

First of all, it is useful to know what the current Etsy payment channels are, because some of these channels are already in use, while others are likely to become available. Etsy has 3 payment receiving channels; Etsy Payments, PayPal and Other. All these payment channels have various details.

Etsy Payments: In fact, Etsy Payments enable sellers to receive one-click payments from many different payment channels such as the customer’s credit card, debit card, Etsy Credits, Etsy Gift Card, PayPal, Klarna, Sofort, iDeal, Apple Pay and Android Pay. After the payment is kept on Etsy for a while, you can get your payment from the “Finances” section by choosing the card you have defined as “Deposit”. You should also remember that you pay a certain amount of commision fee to Etsy. However, just like PayPal, this is not an available payment channel in our country for now.

Paypal: Paypal, which is the most used payment channel together with Etsy Payments, transfers your Etsy sales amount to the card you define in this payment system. Even though Etsy Payments does not offer one-click payment to the seller, PayPal works fully integrated with this eCommerce platform and unfortunately cannot be used in our country because it is banned.

You can define this account to Etsy by opening a PayPal account from a different country, but PayPal wants the corresponding bank account from which country the account was opened. As such, this risky behavior can cause you to lose your Etsy shop completely. Therefore sellers in Turkey need to peruse other options as the solution of Etsy PayPal.

Other: Since Etsy is not used in this payment channel, the payment becomes an event that needs to be settled only between the seller and the buyer. This can lead to disadvantages such as distrust for both the seller and the buyer, manual approval processes, various limits, and extra commissions. Although they have disadvantages compared to Etsy Payments and PayPal, payments through Other can be received in a healthy way.

How Can you Use Other Payment Channels Instead of PayPal?

Other options commonly include check, transfer, Western Union or Payoneer, Shopier. Developed in partnership with Sabancı University and quickly integrated with Etsy, Shopier is considered one of the most reliable and stable payment channels under the title of Other. One of the most important reasons for this is that Shopier has become an ever-improving service by taking the feedback of the users into consideration and has a large share in reducing the cancellations made from the Other.

First, you should make your Etsy shop open to Other. Then activate your Etsy shop by selecting at least 5 items. Apart from the Etsy, a few things need to be done for Shopier. You create a membership through and select the Etsy option to receive payment from Etsy and enter your shop name. Finally, click the “Connect to My Etsy Store” button and click “Allow Access” from the page that opens. Thus, Etsy is no longer an objectionable platform to sell.
